Happy March Break… and preparing for after… from Michael & Dimitra

2022-2023 Virtual Learning Registration

As you may be aware, the Government of Ontario recently announced that all school boards must provide a Virtual Learning option for all elementary and secondary students for the 2022-23 school year.

While we expect a larger number of students to attend In-Person Learning next year, we recognize that some parents/caregivers and students will choose Virtual Learning to meet their needs.

With plans and staffing already underway for September, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is asking families interested in requesting Virtual Learning for the entire 2022-2023 school year to complete a Virtual Learning Registration Form.

If your child will be attending school in-person next year, no action is required. The Virtual Learning Registration Form is available online now and the deadline to complete is Monday, March 21 at 11:59 p.m. Please note, there will be no opportunity to switch in either direction between In-Person and Virtual Learning once the Registration Form closes.

To learn more about Virtual Learning for the 2022-23 school year, including details around program availability, technology, extracurricular activities, etc. please visit https://tdsb.on.ca/VirtualLearning.

If you have more than one child in a TDSB school (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12), please complete a separate Virtual Learning Registration Form for each child using this same link.

For students newly registered to TDSB who will begin attending in September, 2022, information regarding the process to select Virtual Learning will be shared at a later date.

Thank you for your cooperation as we prepare for the 2022-23 school year ahead.

Some notes for parents

  • Signups are open now at: https://edgeimaging.ca/en/graduation-photography-studios/

We have a studio that will be set up for missed grad photos or retakes on April 23rd. Our North York studio will be located at the North Toronto Christian School.

Getting ready for 2022-2023

As we open 2022 we are already planning for the 2022-2023 school year. In February we begin Kindergarten new student registration for Avondale Public School. If you have a child born in 2018 they are eligible to begin Kindergarten Year 1 in September 2022. All registration will be conducted remotely. Beginning in February please visit the TDSB Kindergarten Registration website in order to register on line. Once you have completed the registration we will receive notification and contact you to schedule a Google Meet to confirm documentation. The following documents are required to complete the registration:

  • Proof of age (birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian Citizenship card or certificate or baptismal record)
  • Proof of address, including any two of the following current documents: Utility bill (e.g. hydro, gas, water), cable TV, internet, or home phone bill, insurance policy (home, tenant, auto or life), mortgage statement, rental or lease agreement or deed, current purchase and sale agreement, property tax bill or notice of tax assessment. Original correspondence from a government agency or legal clinic may be accepted as a second proof of address document.
  • Proof of immunization (the card that shows a list of needles your child has received):
    1. Report online <www.toronto.ca/studentvaccines>.
    2. If unable to report online, parents can provide immunization information to the school and the school will mail a copy to Toronto Public Health. Toronto Public Health accepts and translates foreign immunization records.
    3. If requesting an exemption, call 416-392-1250.
  • Verification of date of arrival, if your child was not born in Canada. Families who are permanent residents and refugee claimants may register directly at the school. Children without immigration status are welcome in our schools and information about them or their families will not be shared with immigration authorities. To register, please visit the International Programs and Admissions Office at 5050 Yonge Street, on the main floor, for a TDSB school admission letter.
