What is the Avondale Parent Council?
The Parent Council is a group of parents, selected by members of the parent forum (the collective name for every parent, caregiver or guardian at a school), to represent all the parents of children at the Avondale schools. This council works in collaboration with the school authorities
Why do we need a Parent Council?
Parent Councils help parents and caregivers become more actively and effectively involved in their children’s learning. It is recognized that parents play an important role both in their own child’s learning and in the life of their school. The Parent Council support the school in developing strong home/school partnerships.
What is the role of Parent Councils?
The purpose of the Parent Council is to work with school staff to enhance the education of our children. Our parent council works with Avondale staff on a variety of issues and activities relating to student achievement, curriculum goals and priorities, fundraising, school budget priorities and after school activities. If you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them. You can reach us at email@example.com.
How can you support / join / participate?
- Attend meetings: all parents are welcome to attend any of the meetings. Regular communication is done to announce meeting timings in advance
- Volunteer: in either a limited or broader capacity. The school and the Parent Council organize several events throughout the year, which are only possible because of our parent volunteers. To volunteer click here
- Run for the office positions: an annual election is held and all parents are welcome to participate
If you would like to become more involved in the parent council but you cannot attend the meetings, keep checking this website for details. We will be posting meeting minutes and parent council information on the site in a variety of languages. You can also send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to ask any questions.
Our next Council meeting this year will take place in April 2022.
You do not have to be elected to attend parent council meetings. All parents from all of the Avondale schools are welcome to attend, even if you are only able to come occasionally.
